Socialization: The 16-Week Window
6 min read
Puppies form their view of the world between 3-16 weeks. Positive exposures now = confident adult dog.
Aim for 100 new experiences in the first 4 months: surfaces (grass, tile, gravel), sounds (vacuums, sirens), people (hats, beards, kids), other animals.
Quality over quantity. One relaxed play session > five overwhelming ones. Never force interactions.
Puppy classes are gold — professionally managed play among vaccinated peers.
